Lightning never strikes twice
Major Summerfield was a victim of lightening three times, once even after he died.
The first time was 1918. He was fighting for the Canadian army in Flanders when he was struck by lightning and he fell off his horse. However, he wasn't badly injured.
Major Summerfield was a keen fisherman and six years later, back in his home town of Vancouver, he was fishing and he had just caught a huge salmon, when lightning struck again. This time it was more serious and his legs were paralyzed.
He eventually died in 1932. On the day of his funeral there was a terrible thunderstorm, and just as Major Summerfield was being buried, lightning hit the graveyard, and his tombstone shattered into hundreds of tiny pieces.
